All About Ceramic Crowns

Traditionally, crowns were built on a metal substructure. This sometimes resulted in an unattractive gray discoloration at the gumline and an unattractive and unnatural looking tooth. A new method was therefore developed to use a pressed ceramic core on which to build the crown to counteract this. With no metal in the substructure, the translucent ceramic core is colored closer to the natural color of your tooth.
